Dear God:

One day, when I saw someone in trouble, I told myself, "I can't get involved," and moved on. Then the next day, when someone cried out for help, I told myself, "I can't get involved," and moved on.

But later, when I was in trouble, I cried out for help. People went by, but each one must have told themselves, "I can't get involved," as they moved on. 

I told myself, "If only I had set a better example."

Dear God: When others try my patience, thank you for granting me perspective, for what would otherwise upset me becomes the meaningless thing it often is.
